She announced: “I’ve got some really exciting news. I’ve set up a dating website specifically for single mums, www.datewithchantelle.com. So if you, or anyone you know, are a single mum (or dad!) and are looking for love, please log on.

“It’s specifically for single parents. My friend is on a general dating site and she scrolls down to see if they’ve got kids. On my site, you know the majority of people have children. It’s for men and women who either have kids or don’t mind meeting someone who does.”

Chantelle – who is dating banker Nick Hogg – was inspired to launch the website, created with dating site expert Jack Knowles, after a friend urged her to try online dating.

Writing in her column in new! Magazine she said: “I was talking to one of my friends who’s on a dating site and she said I should go on it – this was before I met Nick. I said I couldn’t because that would be weird, wouldn’t it? I said, ‘I’d love to do my own website.’ Then the opportunity came up and I was really excited.”

Her work is motivated by ideas drawn from disciplines not commonly associated with fashion, crossing between history, science fiction, futurism and philosophy. In Aurelia’s graduate collection “Metropolis”, her attention to detail and appreciation for luxurious materials is emphasized by innovative use of materials.
The main silhouettes of the collection are elongated and streamlined, emphasizing elegance and modernity. Polished and sleek, the nuances of urban modernism are prevalent in her work. Dynamic in shapes and structural in cuts, lines are made in an organic and elegant manner.

AYAKA ICHIKAWA

Aquintic is based on the concept of art in fashion and believes in delivering high-end quality garments with detailed tailoring and hand finishings. The brand aims to create an aquintic way of fashion for women, and casually incorporating menswear elements into the style. Ayaka Ichikawa, the fashion designer and founder of aquintic was born in Fukuoka, Japan. She learned the basics of garment construction and fashion design in Tokyo, and worked in clothes retail, before moving to Bangkok Thailand for three years to expand her knowledge of design and culture. In 2009, she enrolled for Bachelor of Design – Majoring in Fashion, at Raffles College of Design, Sydney. Her conceptual garments were first showcased internationally at Yodex 2011: Young Designer’s Exhibition in Taipei. In that same year, she was also featured in the website of Powerhouse Museum Australia, in the upcoming designer column, D*hub – Designer 6×6. Upon graduation she started the brand, aquintic, in 2012. Its first collection showcased in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012.

DIYANA KOSSO

Diyana Kosso was born on June 26th 1991 in Iraq, and raised in Australia from the age of 3. Diyana began her interest and love for fashion ever since childhood. She was amazed by evening dresses so she started drawing them from the age of 6. Her passion kept growing as she got older and her career goal was to become a fashion designer and eventually start her own label. During her High School years at Bossley Park High School, she attended art and Textile design classes, which encouraged and helped her further to achieve her goal of becoming a fashion designer. Diyana finished her HSC in 2008 and enrolled to study a Bachelor of Design
(majoring in Fashion Design) at Raffles College of Design and Commerce Sydney.

Nara is not a brand whose garments are just created for wearing but are also pieces of art. The brand focuses on luxury finishes to present a glamorous look. The love for fashion apparels started at the age of 3 years old, when her mother’s clothes and make ups became her toys and somehow influenced her creativity and led her toward fashion design. She started out by volunteering to design the cheerleader’s uniform for her school.
She attended Raffles College immediately after high school graduation where her design work allowed her international recognition. Her works were always considered exciting and original by her teachers and mentors. Sbe considers herself to be a trend-setter and wants to be a step ahead of the
fashion world. “I have made it a mission to compete with my own self to be better and better.”

VIRGINIA KILLROY LIU

The curiosity and enthusiasm in learning new things and embracing changes is the attitude that has always been the driven force behind the designer. XU’s designer, Virginia demonstrated her own perception in women’s fashion through exploring the ability to create and drawing inspiration from the various life experience the designer gained from years of work and travels. During the three-year study at the Raffles Design Institute Virginia was successively awarded the Best Collection in graduation completion in July 2010 upon the completion of Advanced Diploma program; the Grand Prize in DHL Couture Contest during FIDE Fashion Week Singapore in December 2012. Virginia is launching the Australian debut collection of XU’s at MBFWA 2013.

London – Dressed in combat boots, tutus and cartoon wings, 13-year-old Anais Gallagher, 10-year-old Stella Jones and 8-year-old Ava Jones – daughters of Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and The Clash’s Mick Jones – are the young stars of a brand-new PETA advert that reads, “Cruelty Doesn’t Fly With Us. Be an Angel for Animals”. The ad, which was shot by top celebrity photographer Pal Hansen, goes on to advise, “Only Bullies Hurt Animals. Don’t Be Afraid to Report Them”.

“We all know it’s wrong to abuse animals, but it takes courage to speak up when we see an animal in trouble”, says Anais. “If you suspect that somebody’s hurting an animal, be brave – tell your parents, a teacher, PETA or a police officer. You could save that animal’s life.”There are more reasons to report animal abuse: studies have repeatedly demonstrated that children who abuse animals are more likely to bully classmates and grow up to be violent adults. Parents can help instil empathy for all living beings by always teaching children to be kind to animals.

Anais, Stella and Ava are part of a long list of prominent people – including Justin Bieber, Lea Michele and P!nk – who have teamed up with PETA and its affiliates to promote compassion for animals.

Kristen Stewart was spotted looking “upset” when she realised her former fling’s estranged wife Liberty Ross was standing near her at Coachella music festival.

Kristen Stewart narrowly avoided Liberty Ross at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The 23-year-old actress was left red-faced when she and boyfriend Robert Pattinson showed up to watch hip-hop act Jurassic 5 at the Californian music festival, only to discover the model – whose husband Rupert Sanders had an affair with Kristen last year – was standing nearby.

An eyewitness told The Sun newspaper: “Kristen has tried so hard to put everything from last year behind her – and she still feels incredibly guilty. ”She and Rob had turned a massive corner in recent months and they were both there to enjoy themselves. ”The last thing she wanted to do was make Liberty feel uncomfortable, either. She looked pretty upset in the backstage bar later on that evening.”

Liberty, 34, filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Rupert, in January after his “momentary indiscretion” with the ‘Twilight’ starlet. However, she appeared unconcerned by Kristen’s close proximity at the festival and was accompanied by her new boyfriend Jimmy Iovine and his friend, US singer Bono.

Vaishali Shadangule brings us Mekhla

Vaishali Shadangule, the designer known for her contemporary designs from Indian hand woven textiles, this season brings in the essence of Assam in her new Autumn/Winter collection. Inspired by the traditional attire of the Assamese women- Mekhla Chadar, the collection features a line of glamorous red carpet ensemble to be showcased at the Autumn/Winter 2013 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on 17th March. Known for her mission to bring forth and highlight our country’s rich culture and heritage of Indian Textiles, this time also, has held on to her passion and worked with 400 female weavers across Assam.

The Mekhla is a concert of three pieces of cloth– a skirt like a sarong, a blouse and an additional piece of cloth draped over the shoulder. It is known for its intrinsic shine that comes from the Muga silk unique to Assam. The fabric is grown and weaved in almost every second household of the villages of the state.
For her current collection, Vaishali has experimented with bold hues of gold, orange, pink, fluorescent green and varied shades of blue. She has complimented it with hand embroidery which has subtle and understated elegance. The line includes graciously flowing gowns and feminine dresses that are perfect for red carpet events.

Talking about her collection, Vaishali says, “I was introduced to the magic of Muga Silk and its design during my visit to Assam last year. In my collection, I have tried to incorporate elements of Mekhla that symbolizes the complex lanes and architectural design of the villages of the state. While working on the color palette of this collection, I was truly motivated by the 400 female weavers who supported me and brought alive my creativity.”

“With the beautiful drapes and mix of fine constructions I hope to bring out the beauty of the Mekhla by retaining its original elements. I have also contemporized it with fine cut work and surface texturing of wool and metallic thread,” she adds.

Over all, this collection promises to stand out and restore our belief that our traditional Indian textiles are all set to be seen at the global fashion horizon.
